My girlfriend, her two children, and me and my child, went last night for the first time ever. We arrived at 20 after 7, and left at quarter to 9. When we left, the cramping and the dizziness started. By the time we got home I could barely stand up. At 2 am this morning, all h-e-double hockey sticks broke loose in my house, literally. My son and I have both been vomiting and having horrible diarrhea ever since. We had a doctor make a house call, and prescribe Gravol for the nausea. Other than that, all we can do is wait. In the meantime, the employee of the Royal Fork was very rude to me on the phone and very reluctantly took the information I was giving her and before I hung up, I made sure she was going to turn the facts over the the health department. She refused to give me any sort or refund, or even a credit, but as far as I'm concerned, any chance of me or my loved ones ever returning to this place was flushed down the toilet with our vomit. I have a call into their head office in the States. I WILL NOT stop until I get my money back. I'm sorry, but paying $32 to be sick like this just isn't the deal I was hoping to get by eating at The Royal Fork Buffet.

A fairly good place for food. Not a place I would return to. Winnipeg has so many great ethnic cafes with awesome food. Check them out!

I think that Royal Fork Buffet is a great place that has great food. But the managers need to be alot nicer. Like... yeah, they're managers, and they need to do their job, but all the managers need to be a little more nicer so that the employees can do they're job without getting harassed by the managers. Otherwise, Royal Fork Buffet is an excellent place to go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Good job royal fork. keep up the good work )

I have been to the Royal on a few occasions and felt the service and food was excellent. Although I am a professional in my mid 30's, I usually go to the Royal to enjoy a quick meal. I normally do not have the time to watch the staff flirting with each other. (Taking into consideration they are either in their teens or low twenties.) As far as food being dumped on you? Accidents happen folks. I have had that happen only a couple of times, and understand that these kids work hard for minimum wage and are not overly paid serving personnel. Give them some credit and dont be so crabby. It's obvious some people are never happy only hoping for a free meal and or certificates. I know being a pegger the W in Winnipeg stands for wholesale, but cmon folks, dont be so cheap and rude. The food is excellent, kids will be kids, and accidents do happen.

First of all, I'm disgusted that there is no way to e-mail anyone at this restaurant. I've been looking to complain about the lousy service my hubby and I saw today. When I was a kid and my parents took us to Grand Forks, we always made the Royal Fork the last stop on our trip before heading home. My hubby and I were in love with the reaustaurant when it first opened here in Winnipeg and went quite often. Today however, we both decided that we probably were not going to return again. We walked in around 715. It was busy but not a problem. While eating our supper. I constantly heard the kid who was cutting the roast beef, how long did he have to stay, did they really need him anymore, when were they closing down the buffet? Then later on, my hubby saw a bus boy grab some food directly off the roast beef, then go and grab a mop to clean up spilled food. But he had an audience while mopping up and the others were continually talking about how gross it was that he was cleaning. From the gist of things, I think some child had puked on the floor and they were cleaning it up but every single employee had to stand there and comment on it. It was only 2 or 3 tables away from us eating. I watched the girl who was attending to the desserts flirt with the kid who was cutting the meat. I watched the hostess wipe off the glass food protectors that are above the food, the outside glass first and then the inside. Who knows what fell from her cloth onto the food? My hubby suggested that if they are grabbing food off the buffet in public view, who knew what they were doing behind closed doors? We watched bus boys clean off the tables using the plastic stand that are left on the tables to advertise desserts or drinks, that kind of thing. They were taking them and using them to scrape the tables but not wiping the plastic stands afterwards. My kids were touching the one at are table. Makes me wonder what was on it. The dishes and cutlery were not clean, especially the spoons. Overall, everything was just not good. My hubby did mention it to the assistant manager tonight but nothing was done. He's thinking of going there tomorrow and asking for our money back. We just weren't happy.

My husband and I went to the Royal Fork Buffet last evening and it was not a pleasant experience. Before my husband could sit down at our table, a staff member accidentally dropped a tray of all flavours of ice cream topping. My husband's clothes were covered with chocolate topping. The manager did not have the courtesy to come to talk to us until I asked for her. She told him to take his clothing to the dry cleaners and bring in the bill for reimbursement. Then she had 2nd thoughts and a long while later did bring him one only gift certificate for a meal and her business card, just in case he would come in with the bill for drycleaning and she wasn't there. Now, there were two of us, I was sticky from trying to wipe up chocolate sauce from my husband and our table. Needless to say, our dinner was ruined and the attitude of the manager was terrible. I think we should have been reimbursed for both meals, as well as being given a gift certificate for two more meals. Also, when I said I didn't know whether the chocolate would come out of the clothing, there was no doubt in the manager's mind that the cleaners can do it. Customer service was not good. My husband get to go by himself for a free meal, although he says he probably won't go and I know I will not return to this restaurant.
